Doug Campbell finished his career in the oil and chemical industry in 2006 with the sale of $150 million revenue/$30 million ebitda specialty chemicals manufacturer, ArrMaz Custom Chemicals where he was Chairman and CEO since its acquisition by Chicago private equity firm Wind Point Partners and Management in 2003. Previously he was President and CEO of Arcadian Corporation(NYSE) which was sold in 1997 for $1.7 billion. Arcadian was a $1.2 billion (revenue) manufacturer of nitrogen chemicals and fertilizer created by the Sterling Group (Houston) through the leveraged buy-out of seven companies in the U.S. and Trinidad. From 1966 through 1992, Mr. Campbell enjoyed 21 jobs in 26 years with The Standard Oil Company (Ohio) and its successor, British Petroleum, achieving officer positions in petroleum marketing and refining and in the chemicals business. This followed two years as a junior Army officer, a degree from Johns Hopkins University, high school at Sewanee (TN) Military Academy and a happy childhood in central Kentucky where Doug had the good fortune to gain broad experience in small business and agriculture. Nancy and Doug were married in 1968 and had Mary in 1972 and Jim in 1974 and managed to move 12 times from Detroit to Cleveland to London to Memphis, with the last stop in Naples where work as a director of PolyOne Corporation, St. Andrew’s - Sewanee School, and involvement with several other start-up companies and charitable activities leave just enough time for bird hunting and enough golf to ensure an adequate degree of humility and frustration. Current non-profit activities include assuming the Presidency of the Foster Care Council of SW Florida at the beginning of 2009, Vice Chair of the Mental Health Local Advocacy Council, Guardian ad Litem since 1999, Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church and other child and mental health advocacy activities. |
